World Population Day 2024

SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences, in association with NSS, observed World Population Day with the theme "Leave No One Behind, Count Everyone". Various activities, such as a World Population Day Awareness Rally and an essay competition, were conducted at Govt. Primary School on 11.07.2024 in Shibargatti village, Dist: Dharwad. The Head Master of the Primary School and the Panchayat Leader of Shibargatti village were present during the function. BSc (N) and GNM Nursing students witnessed the program.

On July 16, 2024, a quiz competition among constituent units of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University, Dharwad, and a guest lecture were conducted. Dr. Umesh R. Dixit, Professor in the Department of Community Medicine, delivered a guest lecture on "World Population Day", focusing on the theme. His speech highlighted several points:

  • "A crowded world makes us focus on the essentials: Clean water, clean air, and food. Let’s work together for sustainable living."
  • "Every person counts; let’s ensure every person’s matter."
  • "Small family, happy family – it is the way forward."
  • "Our planet has limits; let’s respect them by controlling population growth."
  • "Population growth today is one of the greatest challenges we face. Let’s address it with compassion and foresight."
  • "Better education, better healthcare – the keys to a balanced population."

Dr. Prasanna Deshpande, I/c Principal, gave presential remarks on the programe. Prof. Gangabai B. Kulkarni, Dr. Tilak Joshi, Mr. Mallikarjuna P., Dr. Rangappa Ashi, Prof. Metilda Bijapur, Dr. Nagesh V. A., Ms. Mani Bijlee, Mr. Somashekhar R. K. and Mr. Praveen Tuppad are witnessed the program.

Ms. Veena & Ms. Suchitra were presented the invocation song to grace the function.

Ms. Sareena Ayub Buwaji, Ms. Rajeshwari Yogi & Ms. Mahek Dodamani compered the program and proposed the vote of Thanks.
