Masters of Science in Nursing is 2 years full time research based post graduate Nursing program, aims at offering holistic approach in Nursing in general and its chosen area of specialization.

  • The first year consist of 4 subjects to study namely Advanced Nursing Practice, Nursing Education, Nursing Research and Statistics and Specialty Subject
  • The Second year includes the study in the area of specialization and Nursing Management along with submission of thesis at the end of the course
  • At this Institute the following 5 sets of specialization:
    • Adult Health Nursing
    • Midwifery / Obstetrics & Gynecology Nursing
    • Child Health Nursing
    • Mental Health Nursing
    • Community Health Nursing

Focus:
The Master of Science in Nursing prepares nurses for leadership position in nursing to improve quality of nursing education and practice in India. Master programme in Nursing builds up on and extends competencies acquired at the graduate level, emphasizes application of relevant theories to nursing practice, education, administration and development of research skills in the specific subject specialty.

  • Must have passed B.Sc.(N) or B.Sc. Hons. Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc.(N) registered with any State Nursing Council with 55% aggregate (50% for SC / ST)
  • Maximum age is 48 years as on 31.12 of the year in which admission is sought
  • Minimum 01 year of experience is required after registration in case of Post Basic B.Sc.(N) before or after completion of Post Basic B.Sc.(N)
  • Must be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife or equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council
  • Must be medically fit

  • Applications will be scrutinized as per the eligibility criteria given by the apex body (qualifying examination)
  • Entrance Exam will be conducted
  • Conduct of Personal Interview
  • Final list is prepared by the competing qualifying examination marks (30% weightage) + entrance exam marks (30% weightage) + personal interview (40% weightage)

    • Transfer Certificate issued from the college last studied

    • Photocopy of Caste & Income Certificate
    • In case of Non-Karnataka candidates:
      • Eligibility Certificate issued by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University, Dharwad
      • Migration Certificate issued from the University or Board where last studied
