World Breastfeeding Week 2025
Event Details:

- Organized by: SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences, Dharwad
The SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences, Dharwad, in collaboration with the SDM College of Medical Sciences & Hospital, proudly celebrated World Breastfeeding Week 2025 with a series of educational, awareness, and community outreach activities. This global campaign emphasizes the importance of breastfeeding for the health and well-being of babies and mothers, while building sustainable support systems in healthcare and communities.
Highlights of the Week:
- Inauguration Ceremony – Held at OBG OPD, Ground Floor, SDM Medical College & Hospital on 1st August 2025, with faculty, students, and healthcare professionals in attendance.
- Poster Presentation – Nursing students showcased creative and informative posters on breastfeeding awareness.
- Demonstrations – Practical sessions on breastfeeding techniques and breast pump usage conducted at the Postnatal Ward.
- Competitions – Quiz and slogan writing competitions engaged students in learning and advocacy.
- Community Outreach – Street plays in local areas and health awareness skits at the Paediatric OPD educated mothers and families.
- Seminar & Valedictory – Expert talks on breastfeeding and newborn care, followed by prize distribution to competition winners at Ishavasyam Auditorium.

- Students: 6th & 7th Semester B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing (PG), 2nd & 3rd Year GNM
- Faculty: SDMINS faculty members from all departments
- Healthcare Team: Doctors, nurses, and community health workers
- Community Members: Mothers, family members, and local residents
