The Department of Child Health Nursing, SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences (SDMINS), Dharwad, organized a one-day Capacity-Building Workshop on Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illness (IMNCI) on 7th February 2026 at the Ishaavaasyam Auditorium and Skill Laboratory.
The programme was formally inaugurated by the Honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Niranjan Kumar, SDM University, Dharwad. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Smt. Padmalatha Niranjan, Member, Board of Governors, SDM University; Dr. Umesh Dixit; Dr. Prasanna H; Dr. Prasanna Deshpande, Principal, SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences; Sri V. G. Prabhu, Finance Officer, SDM University; Dr. Rangappa S. Ashi, Vice Principal and Organizing Secretary; and Mrs. Manjula K. B., Nursing Superintendent. The dignitaries highlighted the importance of capacity building and adherence to IMNCI guidelines in strengthening neonatal and child health services.
The workshop focused on National IMNCI Guidelines, systematic assessment of neonates and under-five children, IMNCI color-coded classification, case-based simulations, ORS preparation, caregiver counseling, and community health nursing applications. The programme included expert lectures, hands-on skill stations, and interactive learning sessions.
The workshop concluded with a post-test, feedback session, and certificate distribution, and was well received by participants for its practical and competency-based approach.
