The SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences, Dharwad, proudly hosted a high-impact Skill-Based Workshop on Essential & Facility-Based Newborn Care (ENBC + FBNBC) on 6th December 2025 at the Ishaavaasyam Auditorium & Skill Laboratory. The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ competencies in neonatal resuscitation, thermal protection, feeding techniques, Kangaroo Mother Care, infection control, and NICU documentation.

The event commenced with immense enthusiasm, and the formal inauguration was held at 9:30 AM. The distinguished dignitaries who graced the inaugural ceremony were:

Their collective presence elevated the inauguration, emphasizing the institution’s strong commitment to excellence in newborn care education and hands-on skill development.

Throughout the day, participants benefited from expert-led sessions on Overview of ENBC & National Guidelines, Golden Hour Management, Neonatal Resuscitation, Early Initiation of Breastfeeding, KMC, Hands-on Session on Cord and Eye Care, Infection Control in NICU, Feeding Techniques and management of sick neonates, Facility-Based Care: NICU Protocols & Admission Criteria, Clinical Documentation, and Skill Stations. The workshop successfully integrated simulation-based learning, demonstrations, and case-based discussions, making it a highly engaging and practice-oriented experience.

The program concluded with a post-test evaluation, followed by a heartfelt valedictory ceremony and certificate distribution, marking the successful completion of the workshop.

This impactful event strengthened clinical confidence and enhanced the practical skillsets of nursing students and professionals, in alignment with SDM’s mission of fostering excellence in maternal and newborn healthcare.
