The Department of Child Health Nursing, SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences (SDMINS), Dharwad, successfully organized a Training Program on Pediatric Life Support (PLS) on 28th March 2026 at the Ishaavaasyam Auditorium & Skill Laboratory.

Theme

“Saving Tiny Lives: Simulation-Based Mastery of Pediatric Emergency Interventions”

About the Program

The training program aimed to enhance the knowledge and clinical competencies of nursing students and faculty in managing pediatric emergencies effectively. The program focused on simulation-based learning to strengthen critical thinking, prompt decision-making, and life- saving skills in pediatric care.

The program witnessed active participation from:

  • B.Sc. Nursing V Semester Students
  • M.Sc. Nursing Students

Objectives of the Program

The training was conducted with the following objectives:

  • To recognize early signs of critical illness in children
  • To identify early indicators of cardiopulmonary arrest
  • To demonstrate airway and oxygen management techniques
  • To differentiate between respiratory distress and respiratory failure
  • To perform timely interventions in pediatric emergencies
  • To understand medications used in cardiopulmonary arrest
  • To develop competency in Pediatric CPR
  • To provide effective post-cardiac arrest management
