International Nurses Week

Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University's SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences celebrates International Nurses Day on 12th May, 2022 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Florence Nightingale. International Nurses Day is celebrated around the World every year May 12. Florence Nightingale was the UK based Nurse, who dedicated and sacrificed her life for the Noble Cause of Nursing Care. She was born on 1820 and she was the Fundamental Philosopher of Modern Nursing. International Nurses Day in her memory was established in 1974 by the International Council of Nurses (ICN), also serves to highlight the important role of Nurses to fulfil the Healthcare Services. As part of the International Nurses day, an academic program was conducted for the Nursing Professionals. Smt. Padmalatha Niranjan, Executive Director was inaugurated the program and she complimented the Nursing fraternity for their selfless and dedicated service towards the mankind in particularly during the last two years Covid pandemic.

During the formal function Prof. David Kola, Principal SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences, welcomed the dignitaries. Prof. Shashilata Yadav, Professor, OBG Nursing, Institute of Nursing Education, Goa was the Chief Guest and she told that nurses should have good communication skills to deal with the patients. They should also uphold their self-respect and interact with the patients confidently.

On the Eve of International Nurses Day, International Nurses Week was observed from May 7 - 12, 2022. Various events were organized for all the Nursing fraternity. Dr. S K Joshi, Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic), SDM University Presided over the function.

Mrs. Gauravva Kadam conducted the program and Mrs. Vinoda proposed the Vote of thanks.
