Institutional Awareness Programme on 16 Days of Activism for Ending Gender-Based Violence & Promotion of Women Empowerment (UGC Initiative)

SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences, Dharwad, organized an awareness programme for nursing students and faculty as part of the UGC initiative “16 Days of Activism for Ending Gender-Based Violence & Promotion of Women Empowerment.”

The session focused on:

• Understanding gender-based violence and its types
• Legal safeguards including Domestic Violence Act, POSH Act, POCSO Act
• SHE-Box portal for reporting complaints
• Emergency helpline numbers (112, 181, 1098)
• Promoting women’s empowerment in higher education and nursing leadership

Students actively participated and took a pledge against gender-based violence, demonstrating commitment to creating a safe and inclusive academic environment.
