Eyes on Glaucoma: Awareness and Prevention Initiative

The SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences, Dharwad, in collaboration with Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital, Dharwad, organized a guest lecture on 6th June 2025 at LH-2, SDMIONS. Themed "Awareness and Early Detection of Glaucoma" the event aimed to educate nursing students, faculty, and non-teaching staff about glaucoma — often referred to as the "silent thief of sight"

Expert Session:

Dr. Juhi Madhukar Yadlikar, Glaucoma Specialist at Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital, delivered an insightful lecture titled “Understanding Glaucoma: The Silent Thief of Sight.” Her session focused on the types of glaucoma, associated risk factors, early warning signs, and current treatment options. The talk was highly interactive and well-received by the audience.

Outreach and Impact:

More than 100 participants, including IV Semester B.Sc. Nursing students, teaching and non-teaching staff, attended the session. Informative pamphlets were distributed to raise awareness on the importance of regular eye check-ups and early detection strategies.
