Anti-Ragging Day & Awareness Week 2025
As per the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Shri Dharmasthala
Manjunatheshwara University, the SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences observed Anti-Ragging
Day on 12th August 2025, followed by a week-long series of events from 12th to 18th August
2025.
The programme was aimed at sensitizing students about the harmful effects of ragging,
promoting mutual respect, and strengthening the institute’s commitment towards a safe and
inclusive campus environment.
Event Highlights:

Inauguration & Slogan Writing Competition
- Date: August 12, 2025
- The week began with a formal inaugural ceremony at SDMINS, where the Principal addressed
the students. During the ceremony, Dr. Rangappa S. Ashi, Vice Principal & Student Welfare
Officer, administered the Anti-Ragging Oath to the students. A Slogan Writing Competition saw
10 participants showcase their creativity.
- Winners: 1st Place – Ms. Vincy Souza (6th Sem B.Sc. Nursing), 2nd Place – Ms. Rubina Huseansab (2nd Sem B.Sc. Nursing)

E-Poster Making Competition
- Date: August 14, 2025
- 12 groups presented innovative posters at Tathwartha Hall, highlighting messages of campus
safety and inclusion.
- Winners: 1st Place – Ms. Naomi & Team (4th Sem B.Sc. Nursing), 2nd Place – (Joint) Ms. Rakshita & Team (6th Sem B.Sc. Nursing), Mr. Amos & Team (4th

- Date: August 16, 2025
- 12 teams participated in a lively Quiz on anti-ragging laws and awareness.
- Winners: 1st Place – Ms. Vincy & Team (6th Sem B.Sc. Nursing), 2nd Place – Ms. Yamuna & Team (4th Sem B.Sc. Nursing)

Workshop on Anti-Ragging Awareness
- Date: August 18, 2025
- The week concluded with a Workshop at Ishaavaasyam, featuring expert lectures, an
awareness video screening, and an interactive Q&A session. Over 200 students actively
participated.
Outcome
The Anti-Ragging Awareness Week 2025 was a grand success, marked by enthusiastic student
participation, creative expression, and meaningful discussions. The initiatives reinforced the
institute’s dedication to a ragging-free campus where every student feels safe, respected, and
valued.
